My Pregnancy Journey

My passion for children began when I was just 3 years old. As I grew,  I could think of nothing more wonderful than being a wife and mother. At 23 years old I was pregnant with our first. I told everyone as soon as I found out. 

You can imagine how crushed I was when my first pregnancy became a miscarriage. I wondered if I would ever have a child. I was devastated and discouraged. The miscarriage was not handled very professionally, and I felt very uneducated about my choices and my own health. No one had ever talked about miscarriage and everyone brushed it off like it was no big deal. People would say things like, "It was probably for the best" or "There must have been something wrong with it, that is the bodies natural way of taking care of it." This is not what I wanted to hear. I wanted a baby and I wanted to cry and I wanted someone to just listen and be with me.

2 years later when we were expecting again, I realized I didn't know anything about my options and I was NOT going to make the same mistakes with this pregnancy. I wanted to know everything. 

I went to the library and checked out every book I could find about natural birth. I signed up for a childbirth class and found support in knowing someone that had successfully had several natural births. I wanted to provide better support for woman during their childbearing years and be a listening ear through the trials, the growth that motherhood brings and of course celebrate the joys of a newborn with the family.  I had an amazing experience and I felt empowered through it all. Of course I had much to learn but I was happy with my decisions.

Blissful Birth Support was created in 2021 to serve families in rural Southwest Texas—where access to consistent, personalized birth support can be limited. What began as one woman bridging gaps has grown into a collaborative doula team committed to supporting our community better, together.

We expanded because families deserve more availability, more support, and more resources. By working as a team, we bring a wider range of experience, backgrounds, and specialties under one trusted umbrella—so no family feels alone in their journey.

Our doulas are mothers of 4 to 8 children, with lived experience across hospital births, home births, midwifery care, VBACs, interventions, physiological birth, and postpartum recovery. Our team includes lactation support, nursing backgrounds, childbirth educators, placenta specialists, and bereavement-trained doulas, allowing us to collaborate and tailor care to each family’s unique needs.

We also hold space for families experiencing pregnancy loss, infant loss, or complex outcomes, offering compassionate, informed bereavement support when the journey doesn’t go as planned. Every family deserves to be met with dignity, gentleness, and respect—no matter the outcome.

Birthing in a rural area shouldn’t mean fewer options or less support. Through education, advocacy, and hands-on care, we help families understand their rights, explore their choices, and feel confident navigating pregnancy, birth, and postpartum—wherever they choose to give birth.

We believe birth is sacred. Supporting families during this life-changing time is an honor we don’t take lightly. Our shared mission is to prepare, empower, and walk alongside you—so you feel informed, supported, and strong in the choices you make for your family.
