My passion for children began when I was just 3 years old. As I grew, I could think of nothing more wonderful than being a wife and mother. At 23 years old I was pregnant with our first. I told everyone as soon as I found out.
You can imagine how crushed I was when my first pregnancy became a miscarriage. I wondered if I would ever have a child. I was devastated and discouraged. The miscarriage was not handled very professionally, and I felt very uneducated about my choices and my own health. No one had ever talked about miscarriage and everyone brushed it off like it was no big deal. People would say things like, "It was probably for the best" or "There must have been something wrong with it, that is the bodies natural way of taking care of it." This is not what I wanted to hear. I wanted a baby and I wanted to cry and I wanted someone to just listen and be with me.
2 years later when we were expecting again, I realized I didn't know anything about my options and I was NOT going to make the same mistakes with this pregnancy. I wanted to know everything.
I went to the library and checked out every book I could find about natural birth. I signed up for a childbirth class and found support in knowing someone that had successfully had several natural births. I wanted to provide better support for woman during their childbearing years and be a listening ear through the trials, the growth that motherhood brings and of course celebrate the joys of a newborn with the family. I had an amazing experience and I felt empowered through it all. Of course I had much to learn but I was happy with my decisions.
Blissful Birth Support was created in 2021 to support families in the Southwest Texas rural areas. Birthing in a rural area can limit availability to exceptional medical care. I have had two home births in Brackettville and finding the natural support took me 3 years of networking. As a Doula, Placenta Encapsulator and resource for all things pregnancy and birth, women can have better experiences and be educated on their rights and available options. My goal is to bridge that gap and give every woman the opportunity to have amazing care specific to their needs.
I have had 5 all natural births with very little intervention. My first was delivered with a wonderful Certified Nurse Midwife in an amazing hospital. I was required to have an IV and antibiotics because I tested GBS +. My last 4 have all been born at home with different midwives. I have worked with 13 midwives over the years and I have learned something incredible about myself and the miracle of natural birth from every single one. I love to share these nuggets of knowledge with others.
I love being a part of this sacred time of life. It is an honor to be a part of a life changing event. Teaching as a certified Childbirth Educator is a passion of mine. I put my whole heart and soul into teaching and getting to know my students and clients. My goal is to prepare families for what to expect in pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum and especially to help them find their voice and feel empowered in life to make the best choices for their family. I hope to make a positive difference in your life!
